What to Watch Out For
6 Red Flags on a Cold Pressed Oil Label
Vague "cold pressed" claims
The term "cold pressed" has no strict legal definition in India. Any brand can print it. Ask specifically: what temperature? What method? Wooden Ghani or expeller press?
No mention of extraction temperature
Genuine cold pressing stays below 45°C. If a brand does not state the temperature, assume it is higher — heat is cheaper and faster.
Unusually low price
Real cold pressing is slower and yields less oil per kg of seed than solvent extraction. If the price is the same as refined oil, the process probably is too.
No sourcing information
Premium cold pressed oil starts with premium seeds. If a brand cannot tell you where their mustard seeds come from, that is a meaningful gap.
Perfectly clear, odourless oil
Genuine kachi ghani sarson ka tel has a natural golden-amber colour and a distinct pungent aroma. Perfectly clear, mild oil has been refined or heat-processed.
No physical facility address
A verifiable manufacturing address is a basic trust signal. Dune Aura is at DSS 53, Sector 9A Market, Gurugram 122001 — you can visit.

10+ Years
Cold press expertise
Founded on Experience
Dune Aura was founded by Mr Surya Bhan Singh — a graduate of the National Council for Hotel Management and Applied Nutrition who spent years in Dubai's hospitality industry and built a tourism enterprise across four countries before returning to India to solve a problem he had observed firsthand: the near-total disappearance of genuinely pure cold pressed oil from the Indian market.
That background — food science, international quality standards, and years of R&D — is why Dune Aura's process is built around verification, not just claims.

Frequently Asked
How do I know if a mustard oil is genuinely cold pressed?
Look for three things: the extraction temperature stated on the label (must be below 45°C), the method (wooden Ghani or stone press — not expeller), and a natural golden-amber colour with a pungent aroma. Refined or heat-processed oil is pale and mild.
Is all kachi ghani oil the same?
No. "Kachi ghani" means raw press — but the temperature, seed quality, and process discipline vary enormously between brands. Some use the term loosely for expeller-pressed oil that runs at 80–120°C. Genuine kachi ghani stays below 45°C throughout extraction.
Why is Dune Aura mustard oil more expensive than supermarket brands?
Cold pressing at below 45°C in a wooden Ghani is slower and yields less oil per kg of seed than solvent extraction or high-heat expeller pressing. The higher price reflects the genuine process — not a premium brand tax.
Can I visit the Dune Aura facility in Gurgaon?
Yes. Our facility is at DSS 53, Sector 9A Market, Gurugram 122001. We are open Monday to Friday 9am–6pm and Saturday 9am–2pm. Call +91 99995 55242 to arrange a visit.
What certifications should I look for on a cold pressed oil label?
FSSAI certification is the minimum standard for any edible oil sold in India. For cold pressed oils, also look for Agmark certification and any third-party lab test results the brand publishes. Dune Aura is FSSAI certified.
